Silver Jubilee of My Marriage

During 1985, I was working in Indian Oil Corporation, Port Blair and was residing in a accommodation provided by the Company at Dilanipur Port Blair. Sometime in March/April, 1985 two girls came to my home. One was Kathrina Tirkey and another my distant cousin Ufracia Lakra.  Ufracia came to stay with me and learn typing in a near by Institute. Kathrina stayed for a night and went to her relative to stay with them but Ufracia remained with me.  Often Kathrina will often come to my home to  see her friend and my cousin Ufracia but I never realized she had some feeling for me. In October, 1985 I finally left Port Blair and came to Delhi. She joined Teachers' Training Institute and my cousin joined Government College, Port Blair. One fine day, I got a letter from my late fourth Uncle and asked me whether I would like to marry Kathrina. I first decided to write to her directly and get an answer. The answer was "Yes" and then I wrote to my parents to go ahead with the proposal. With so many  ifs and buts in my marriage because my wife had lost her father Late William Tete when she was just six months old. Her mother re-married. But even with so many impediments  our marriage was finally blessed by Fr. Custudio SFX on 30th April, 1988. I remember, Late Fr. Peter Gomes, SFX who was my school Manager and just at that time he was Vicar General of Port Blair also intervened. After our marriage she left her job of Teacher and came along with me to Delhi and remained unemployed for a year. She got a job of Teacher in Municipal Corporation of Delhi School in July, 1989.  I always  think, we human being can never understand the will and plan of God. In due course we were blessed with two daughter Dr. Annie Juliet Barla and Ruby Gloria Barla. My cousin married to a Telugu boy and has one daughter and one son. These two girls who came to me unexpectedly, became part of my life. Though, I had lost contact with my cousin before my marriage itself and just came in contact again sometime in 2007-08, she still loves me so much beyond my expectation. In all these 25 years she extended her support to me in whatsoever way it was possible for her. She learned to adjust in a big family like mine because we still have joint family and total members are more than 30.

My Last Homage to my Mother.

My mother expired on 08.07.2012 and since then I could not visit her tomb where she was laid to rest. The last rite should have been performed as soon as it would have been possible but so many events of my life and career, made it impossible to travel to Baratang Islands. At last, the day came and on 19.4.2013 I traveled to my homeland in Andamans as the Requiem Mass and Gammi was fixed for 22.04.2013. I reached home on 20th April, 2013 and on the next morning I went to the graveyard  of my mother. During the last two years I first lost my nephew, my cousin and and my beloved mother. She is laid rest beside the graveyard of my Bhabhi Ji Jacinta Minj. I lighted candles on their graveyard prayed for them and next day I sent my nephews to put a white cloth on the graveyard of my Mother. I felt sorry for the delay because someone in my family told me that my Mother appeared in dreams and desired early Requiem Mass and Gammi. While I was coming back I just brought a photograph snapped after her death.
